Are you overweight because of your food choices? Do you use food as a drug to compensate for stress in your life? Is your life so hectic you just don't have time to plan healthy meals and get exercise?

The list can go on and on but at the end of the list ultimately there comes a point where you are going to have to accept the fact that nothing in the physical world will change unless you first change it mentally.

Whatever you included on that list are all just symptoms of a larger problem. And that larger problem must be identified in order for you to get the body you want and the health that you deserve.

Everything is possible with the right attitude and realistic expectations. Long-term healthy weight loss does not happen overnight. There are no magic pills or mysterious secrets about losing weight.

Now I'm not saying that there aren't some medications that will assist you but the bottom line is, that you must burn off more calories than you consume. It is really no more complicated than that. You have to realize also, that your health must become a priority. So if you don't feel that you've had time to exercise or plan meals you will have to make the time or else nothing will change.

There's a quote from Albert Einstein that you can apply to your whole weight loss journey it simply goes something like this... that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

It's a simple quote but it's very profound, and can apply to many different aspects of our lives, with weight loss not being the least of those situations.

It is a good idea not to preoccupy yourself with the scale. A better barometer of your weight loss is simply how your close fit. I mean let's face it if you look great and your close that great and you've lost inches off your weight doesn't really matter what the numbers on the scale say?

Healthy weight loss cannot be achieved by diet alone, it must be augmented with physical exercise. Just remember that a little bit of something is better than a whole lot of nothing! And when it comes to diet and exercise this statement couldn't be more true.

The more you move the more calories your body burns and in turn the more weight you will lose. There are all types of exercises that you can do. I myself have never liked running, okay I'll be honest I've always hated running! But I've always loved walking.

When you do the research on walking versus running as far as calories burned it turns out that walking actually is much better for the body than running. And this is for obvious reasons such as the foot pounds of pressure that is applied to our joints through the pounding that they take when we run.

Yoga is also an excellent exercise to do and will also contribute to weight loss. It is also been found that those that continue a yoga program are four more likely not to gain the weight back in the future.

One of the key elements when it comes to food is not to make anything off-limits. To be successful in making a proper food choices the key is portion size.

Some people also have found that acupuncture has helped them in their weight loss quest. This probably has a lot to do with the releasing of stress which many people try to relieve through overeating.

Besides not looking your best being overweight carries with it the possibility of many different types of health problems. Health issues run the gamut from heart disease, high blood pressure type II diabetes and high cholesterol. We have become a country that is basically eating itself to death. So when you really think about the reasons for losing weight, there really isn't any negatives.

Besides the health factors and risks that are involved by not losing weight there was also the benefit of looking better which in turn builds self-confidence. Real weight loss is a slow process in the beginning but it will snowball into a healthier more self-confident person by sticking with the journey. Try to remember that food is fuel and not a reward or a drug that should be used to mask other issues that you're having in your life.

You can't change who you are, but you CAN change who you will become!
